Vizio P50-C1 Review

Vizio P50-C1 Review

Vizio P Series ‘home theater entertainment displays’ is available for reasonable priced with 4K Ultra HD products with high dynamic range (HDR) capability. When you see a quick glance at demo material would seem to confirm that, but of course a great look in the showroom doesn’t mean it is necessarily going to perform that way in the real world. That is why you need to know further about the product review based on some test to see what all hype was about. Vizio P Series TVs are more than just good TVs for a good price, it is also a downright great TV at a great price with HDR, great color, fantastic contrast and an improved 4K smart TV interface. At this review, we are going to delve more about one model of Vizio P Series TVs: P 50-C1, while the other model Vizio P65-C1 will be reviewed in the next post.

Vizio P50-C1 Design

Vizio P50-C1 has many things to discuss about. It is an attractive and slightly shiny TV screen, with half-inch brushed metallic bezels instead of the typical black plastic mostly seen on most television screen. You can see that the bezels are completely flat, with the sides of the screen featuring a grid-like texture and the top edge sharing the same smooth brushed surface as the bezels themselves with no curved shape at its corner. There are two V-shaped metal feet that hold it up steadily with no wiggle where the television can stand on. The V-shaped feet where the TV stand on spread wide enough, so you need to provide enough space to put the TV screen on, and be careful to keep the feet away from the edge of your table or cabinet to prevent the set from unexpected toppling forward.

Vizio P50-C1 Connectivity

On this TV screen, the Menu, Power, and Volume Up/Down buttons sit on the back of the P50, on the lower-left corner. Because of the button position, if you want to install a wall mount for it, make sure that you left some space to reach this part when it is stuck on the wall. The menu button on the TV screen only serves as an input selector. While the two HDMI ports, two USB ports (one 2.0, one 3.0), and a component video input are positioned facing left, a few inches in from the edge of the screen. The remaining ports consists of three additional HDMI ports, an Ethernet port, and optical and RCA audio outputs face downward.

Vizio P50-C1 Remote

If you buy P50-C1, you will get an included Android tablet that is intended to be used as a remote for your TV screen. it also comes with a small, minimalist remote that can be used for simple interactions without playing with a touch screen on the Android remote. This included conventional remote is a small, rectangular black wand with Play/Pause, Volume Up/Down, and Channel Up/Down controls in a prominent square near the center, so it is very simple and minimalist. While the other buttons like Power, Input, Link, and Display Size buttons sit above the square, and the remains button such as Mute and Picture Mode buttons are placed right below it. This conventional remote is useful for changing the picture modes, switch inputs, and adjust volume. Therefore, if you want to change the television’s settings, you need to use the tablet or any Android device with the SmartCast app on it.

Vizio P50-C1 Included Android Tablet

As we said in the section above, there is an included Android tablet if you but Vizio P50-C1. This included tablet is a sleek, slim black slate that invokes Sony mobile device aesthetics. It is a 6.4-by inch device with a bright 5.6-inch 1080 touch screen and it just 0.3 inch thick. It is designed to easily grip with one hand with the left and right edges are slightly curved, and the top and bottom edges are capped with perforated metal stipes. On the bottom of the edge there is a micro USB port, while on the top edge there are a 3.5mm headphone jack and power button, and the volume rocker on the left edge.

The included tablet supports wireless charging, and Vizio helpfully includes a black-and-silver charging dock that holds it at a nearly upright angle. There is a magnet that keeps the tablet aligned for charging when it is not in use, so no worry to sit just right on the dock.

Do not expect too much on the included tablet which is intended to be used as a remote for your P50-C1. This tablet (model XR6P10) uses a dated Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 CPU with 2 GB or RAM and a scant 16GB of storage. With all these inside the tablet, the performance scored 36,569 in AnTuTu, which is thoroughly middle-of-the-road. It can handle media playback and Web browsing just fine, but it is not capable for any short of gaming.
